Chick-Fil-A

Background

Chick-fil-A (a play on the American English pronunciation of "fillet") is an American fast food restaurant chain headquartered in the city of College Park, Georgia, specializing in chicken sandwiches. Founded in May 1946, it operates more than 2,200 restaurants, primarily in the United States. The restaurant serves breakfast before transitioning to its lunch and dinner menu. Chick-fil-A also offers customers catered selections from its menu for special events. [1]

Mandela Effect

The current spelling of the restaurant is Chick-Fil-A, but many people remember either Chic-Fil-A, or Chik-Fil-A. [2] This particular Mandela Effect has been described as notable because of how uncommon misspellings of the word "chick" are. [3]

Residue

Most of the residue for this is anecdotal[4], but there are many photographs on the internet of differing spellings of the restaurant.

Potential Explanations

One suggested explanation is that people are misspelling Chick-Fil-A as Chik-Fil-A because of an ad campaign run by the company with the slogan "Eat mor Chikin". [5]
